This site will be valuable when the league tables are eventually removed.

This site will be valuable when the league tables are eventually removed. Every educator knows what the response to these comparisons will be. The best students will leave the "worst" schools which then will become even "worse".

Children who attend the "worst" schools will not even be offered a job at maccas.

Even as potential spouses their suitability will be in doubt.

Some teachers will teach nothing but "spellin" and "SUMS". (probably get "best teachers awards").

However it IS time that a central site for discussion of education-related issues was created.
And what a Pandora's box it will turn out to be ^ _^

And that can ONLY be a good thing.

I don't believe that Children who attend the "worst" schools will not even be offered a job at maccas.
Worst Schools are not lost causes.
Naplan identifies these worst schools. Then Govt follows up by doing what it can to improve that school's performance. A worst school can improve as soon as the Head Teacher and the teaching staff improve.

Hello Brad.

They bus themselves in from all over sydney
Don't think so Brad.
Macca Owners don't mind if their Customers are locals so why would they mind if their staff are locals? Kids who make the cut have no trouble working the maccas system.
Also I believe that kids from poorer performing schools have just as much chance as any to find employment in areas that suit their ability and their interest.
However it is widely reported that young people's unemployment numbers are on the rise.

Bussed in? I know students who work at maccas. They bus themselves in from all over sydney. You have no idea do you.
Its just an example. The kids form the progressively poorer PERFORMING schools wont get a job interview ANYWHERE.
Wait and see.

The school is going to match and cater to it's locality is it not? What's wrong with that? And if there is a maccas in the locality of course the local kids will get jobs there. Who best to deal with the local people? You don't think maccas buses staff in from snobby areas do you?
Some of the so called worse schools are doing a great job with the children they have. Not every school can be top performing, but every school can give kids worthwhile education and inspiration to reach higher. And it's happening. Julia's Naplan is not comprehensive and misleads worried parents. But if you think it's important to know these test results then fine.

Of the Public schools in the area, Newbridge Heights has an excellent reputation. Holsworthy has a very good Kindergarten program. Both Wattle Grove and Hammondville are very good schools too.
