Welcome to Launceston! We have only been back here for a couple of months and one of the main reasons we returned to Tas was to re-enrol the children (especially Winston) back in the Grammar school. We 1st had Winston enrolled from pre kinder (age 4) and he really struggled to communicate back then. I dispared that he would ever be "main stream" schooled. The teachers worked "miracles" with him. I have nothing but praise for the support and skill of the school and the teachers. Yes, we have had our problems, but nothing that has not been easily sorted. It is really hard for parents of wonderful children like ours NOT to be embarassed but some of thier behaviour, but I have always felt supported by the school and teachers. I would highly recommend the school for your child. How old?? Winston is in yr 5 (11 y/o). He is in an all boy class (even though the schoolin co-ed) and I am thrilled with his progress. He has the most awsome teacher and the school are currently seeking funding for an STA. There are 2 other ASD children in the year level, so there is also parental support if needed. We were in Canberra for 5 years (we left Tas when Winston had just finished prep year) and Winston was having huge problems in the public system (although it was very good). There were significant bullying issues and Winston did badly particularly in the last year we were there. It had started to affect his self esteem and he had started to feel depressed - I was extremely concerned. Since we have returned to Tas and he has been back at the Grammar school I have not seen him as happy for several years. He has been invited to several birthday parties already this year (in Canberra, he rarely was invited) and the other children simply accept him. It has taken (and will continue to take) some hard work to protect his self esteem but we are now back on track.  A joy! Hope this helps! Let me know if you need any more info! Cheers, Sharon
